A rail-bound continuous conveyor describes conveyors that move on a fixed rail system to continuously transport goods along a defined route. This includes floor-bound and floor-free systems.
The vehicles are guided on rails, which ensures precise movement. Examples include electric pallet conveyors (EPB) on the ground or electric monorail trains (EHB) on the ceiling. In contrast to driverless transport systems (FTS), their route is fixed.
These systems are ideal for creating fixed connections in intralogistics to produce, eg between high-bay warehouse and order picking. They are suitable for transporting heavy loads over medium to long distances.
Rail-based systems offer high transport speeds and reliability. The fixed routes minimize the risk of collisions and enable a highly automated and predictable flow of goods.
