The rope on a stacker (RGB), usually as hoisting rope , is a safety-relevant component of the hoist. It is a high-strength steel cable that transfers the power from the drive to the load handling device.
The rope is driven by the cable drum and diverted via pulleys in order to raise or lower the lift sled vertically. In most cases, several cables are used in parallel to ensure redundancy and safety.
Hoist ropes are the most common method for realizing the vertical lift of most stacker cranes.
Steel cables enable high lifting speeds. However, they are a wear part and must be carried out as part of regular maintenance by qualified personnel such as TELOGS be checked and replaced when ready for removal is reached.
