Die Rope drum is a central component of the hoist on a stacker (RGB). It is a cylindrical drum that unwinds and unwinds the hoist cable and thus produces the lifting movement.
The rope drum is driven by the hoist motor. When it rotates, the hoist cable is wound or unwound in an orderly manner. To ensure a clean winding, the surface is often provided with grooves that guide the rope precisely.
Rope drums are the core of rope-based hoists in stacker cranes and cranes. Their dimensions depend on the required lift height and rope diameter.
A precisely manufactured rope drum with clean grooves is crucial for the lifespan of the hoist rope. It ensures smooth rope running, minimizes wear and contributes to the reliability of the lifting system.
